Want to spend three days immersed in your writing, from the comfort of your office or home, yet with virtual support from your peers?

The Winter Virtual Faculty Writing Retreat will be held January 6-8, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom.

Each day includes hands-on workshops and plenty of time to write independently in a comfortable, relaxed virtual space among fellow writers. The goals of the workshop are to provide tools for a realistic, sustainable writing practice; to create space for faculty members to make progress on a project; and to nurture a writing community.

Sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the program will be facilitated by Monique Dufour, an assistant professor of history. A boxed lunch will be provided each day of the retreat for participants in the Blacksburg area.

This event is free, but space is limited to 30 participants and a brief application is required. Registrations will be accepted through December 15, 2020. Preference will be given to those who have not participated in a prior winter retreat at Virginia Tech.

If you apply and are accepted, you should plan to attend all three days of the retreat.

All Virginia Tech faculty — including tenured, tenure-track, collegiate, continued appointment or continued appointment track, research, extension, clinical, instructors, and adjuncts — are invited to participate.
