An interactive virtual workshop on Mentoring Undergraduates in Research will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021, tentatively from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Drawing from multiple well-established sources and programs, this free workshop will engage participants through interactive sessions on recognizing their expertise, exploring what a mentor is and is not, what a mentor does, and guidelines and best practices for mentoring undergraduate students in research. The principles presented will be applicable broadly to all areas of research. This workshop is open to faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.

Participation in this workshop is free but registration is required. Register online by January 11, 2021, at 5 p.m.

More information is available on the Office of Undergraduate Research website.

The workshop is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research, HHMI Inclusive Excellence in the Sciences at Virginia Tech, and the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs.
