Hall of Honor Guidelines
The College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences Hall of Honor recognizes exceptional alumni who exemplify the importance of a liberal arts education and have made significant contributions to their professions, communities, and Virginia Tech. Three honorees will be inducted annually.
Selection Criteria
- Career success and accomplishment
- Active involvement with and support of the college
- Dedication to and engagement with Virginia Tech
- Professional and public service
All alumni who are at least 10 years beyond graduation are eligible.
Distinguished Alumni of the Year
The College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who bring distinction to Virginia Tech through extraordinary achievements in their fields of discipline and have demonstrated records of distinguished service. Individuals are chosen annually by representatives from each department and area within the College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences to receive this prominent award.
Selection Criteria
- Must have at least one degree from the College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences
- Have achieved a high level of success within their chosen field of endeavor, which is exemplified by having attained increasingly responsible positions, and have been recognized by their peers.
- Preference will be given to nominees who have participated in community activities as well as activities supporting CLAHS and have given distinguished service to their profession, to Virginia Tech, and/or to their community.
Rising Star Award
The College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences Rising Star Award recognizes alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years and demonstrated emerging and unique innovation, creativity, and career success. Selections are based on professional success; however, a demonstrated commitment to Virginia Tech and opportunity for future involvement may also be considered.
Selection Criteria
- Must have at least one degree from the College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences
- Graduated within the last 10 years
- Early career success and accomplishment
