Call for Proposals for ISCE Scholars Program
December 2, 2020
The Institute for Society, Culture and Environment (ISCE) is now accepting applications for its Scholars Program, which provides faculty support for grant proposals in the social sciences, broadly defined.
The call for proposals for the 2021-2022 Scholars program is now open. Six to eight awards of up to $30,000 will be awarded for a period of one year beginning in July 2021.
Proposals must address one of ISCE’s thematic areas of research and scholarship: global issues, health/human development, risk and resilience, and community/built environment.
This year’s call encourages team proposals aligned with the Virginia Tech’s Transdisciplinary Communities or that address disinformation, inequality, or structural racism. The deadline for proposals is Monday, March 1, 2021.
The ISCE Scholars Program provides support for both relatively new faculty investigators and more experienced investigators to undertake initial work in a new or existing program area. The expectation is that proposals developed through the Scholars Program will lead to the submission of an application to a government agency, foundation, or corporate sponsor for a project requiring a minimum of $100,000 in direct costs per year within six-months of completing the Scholars project.
