The Institute for Society, Culture and Environment (ISCE) works to enhance Virginia Tech’s capacity in the social sciences by catalyzing innovative, interdisciplinary, and translational research and scholarship that addresses critical human and societal concerns affecting the lives of people and places in Virginia, nationally, and worldwide.

To help improve faculty success in seeking external funding, ISCE makes available financial and technical assistance to support the development of individual faculty members and promote participation in interdisciplinary teams as they conduct new and ongoing research.

The 2020-2021 ISCE handout summarizes ISCE’s funding opportunities and support. Among those opportunities are the ISCE Scholars Program; special initiatives, often in collaboration with other Virginia Tech institutes or Transdisciplinary Communities, such as the ISCE-Global Change Center Interdisciplinary Seed Funding; and unsolicited requests.
