Alumni Award for Research Excellence: Call for Nominations
September 1, 2020
On behalf of the Alumni Association, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation invites faculty to submit nominations for the Alumni Award for Research Excellence.
Awards are made in two categories: science or engineering; and social sciences, humanities, or arts, with up to one award in each category and no more than one awardee from a single major unit (college or institute).
Up to two awards will be given in the coming year and will be presented at a ceremony in late spring 2021. Each recipient will be awarded $2,000 and a plaque. Individuals who were nominated last year will automatically be considered for an award again this year by the committee if their dossiers are complete, but the nominator is encouraged to update their nominees’ dossiers (including the nomination, CV, and reference letters).
Nominations should be sent electronically (one PDF file of two-page nomination and CV preferred) to Kimberly Borkowski (kborkows@vt.edu) by close of business on November 6, 2020. Letters of recommendation will be requested by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and will be due by close of business on January 15, 2021 with awards being chosen no later than March 12, 2021.
Nominators should contact Kimberly Borkowski (kborkows@vt.edu) by January 8, 2021 to confirm that letters of recommendation for their nominees have been received.
