Virginia Tech’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program equips teachers, administrators, and teacher educators to excel in a high-demand field. Whether you’re starting your teaching career, growing your expertise, or moving into leadership, our programs help you make an impact. You learn how to teach your secondary students problem-solving, project completion, research, communication, time management, and critical thinking skills as they are prepared for the future. CTE is consistently identified as an area of critical shortage for teachers in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Undergraduate Career & Technical Education Options

We now offer an undergraduate teacher preparation program in Career & Technical Education - Agriculture. In addition to practical experience in this program, students will complete coursework in Forest Ecosystems, Horticulture Science and Industry, Introduction of Metal Fabrication, Soils, Fundamentals of Environmental Science, and Leadership for Global Sustainability alongside education courses, such as  Principles and Practices in PK-12 Assessment, Secondary School Teaching  Methods, and Educating Exceptional Learners.  Click here to learn more about this popular major!
