Dwight Bigler, an associate professor in the School of Performing Arts, conducted the premiere of “Mosaic for Earth,” a work for choir and orchestra that weaves together music, environmental science, visual arts, and literature to celebrate the wonders of nature and explore humanity’s impact on the environment. The performance took place April 3 in the Moss Arts Center and featured 250 members of the Virginia Tech Philharmonic, Virginia Tech Choirs, Blacksburg Master Chorale, and Blacksburg Children’s Chorale. The work was recorded immersively to create an audio and video multi-camera album, which was enabled in large part by a previous crowdfunding campaign.
