Emily Warwick, an international relations and public and urban affairs major, was named the 2021 Outstanding Senior in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Warwick engaged in a variety of research experiences that reflected her transdisciplinary interests: research assistant for several faculty members in the Department of Political Science and the Department of Sociology; participant in a Diplomacy Lab research project and the Virginia Tech Advanced Research Skills Program; intern at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency; associate with the Hume Center for National Security and Technology; and contributor to the DataBridge Research Lab and the Virginia Tech Policy Destination Area COVID-19 Database Project. She also participated in myriad extracurricular activities, serving as a delegate at the Atlantic Coast Conference Student Leadership Symposium; a student government representative at the University Commission on Research; an ambassador of the Virginia Tech Office of Undergraduate Research; an associate editor of Philologia, an undergraduate research journal in the college; and director of the Student Government Association’s First-Year Leadership Experience.

Her postgraduate plans are to pursue a career in social science research with a long-term goal of earning a doctorate in political science and becoming a professor.
