Short Course in Machine Learning Concepts Offered to Faculty and Graduate Students
January 14, 2021
Machine learning and data science methods have recently been used in virtually all fields of study. The Statistical Applications and Innovation Group (SAIG) is offering a free short course, “Introduction to Machine Learning,” for faculty and graduate students during the Spring 2021 semester.
This eight-week course, which will meet virtually every other week from 3 to 5 p.m. starting January 29, will introduce the fundamental concepts underlying the most popular algorithms and show how to employ these methods to derive meaningful conclusions from data. This course includes both hands-on, in-class exercises and take-home practice exercises to sharpen enrollees’ understanding of the course material. Material is provided in both R and Python.
