Staff Sergeant Matthew Brooks

Staff Sergeant Matthew Brooks is from Carrollton, GA. He joined the United States Army in November 2015 and completed Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA, graduating as an Infantryman (11B). SSG Brooks later attended Advance Individual Training at Fort Lee, VA and graduated as a Unit Supply Specialist (92Y). SSG Brooks most recently served as the Senior Supply Sergeant for the 3d Ordnance BN (EOD) located at Joint-Base Lewis McChord, WA.

SSG Brooks served in multiple staff and leadership positions to include Headquarters Platoon Sergeant and Senior Supply Sergeant for 2-508th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR), 82nd Airborne Division (ABN DIV), Property Book NCOIC for 2nd Brigade Combat Team (BCT), 82nd ABN DIV, Senior Supply Sergeant for 3d Ordnance BN (EOD), as well as multiple unit-level Supply Sergeant roles.

SSG Brooks completed a combat tour in Iraq (2020) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

SSG Brooks’ military education include Airborne School, Basic Leader Course, Combat Lifesavers Course, Property Book Course, Unit Supply Manager’s Course, and Advanced Leader course. SSG Brooks is also a graduate from the University of West Georgia where he earned his BA in English with a minor in Creative Writing.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal w/ C Device, Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (4), Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal w/ Campaign Star (2), the Army Good Conduct Medal (3), Army Recruiting Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Parachutist Badge.

SSG Brooks is married to Rebecca Brooks, she is a 5th Grade Science teacher. The Brookses have two daughters.
