Captain Zachary Skipworth is a native of Knoxville, TN, and a 2015 graduate of East Tennessee State University.

CPT Skipworth has served operationally as a Company Fire Support Officer, Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, Battalion Fire Support Officer, Battery Commander, and Brigade Fire Support Officer.

CPT Skipworth has deployed to Europe and Afghanistan. His most recent deployment was in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where he deployed to Romania to deter Russian aggression in Eastern Europe.

CPT Skipworth’s military education and awards include FA BOLC, Ranger School, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Air Assault School, the Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Defense Ribbon, the Ranger Tab, Air Assault wings, and the Expert Soldier Badge. He holds a BS in Criminology from East Tennessee State University. He also has a master’s degree and a graduate certificate in local government from the Center for Public Administration and Policy at Virginia Tech. 

CPT Skipworth is married to Lana Skipworth from Abingdon, Virginia, and has a son, Theodore, and a daughter, Lyla.
