MSG Sean W. Embler is from Wilmington, NC. He enlisted into service in the North Carolina National Guard on March 28th 1992 as an Indirect fire, Infantryman (Mortarman). MSG Embler transitioned to active duty on May 25th 1994 and after a little more than 3 years returned to NCNG on August 26th 1997. After completing his 8 year obligation, MSG Embler left service to pursue his college education. After the attack on our nation he followed his call to duty and re-enlisted into the NCNG serving in the same capacity as before. After 2 deployments, MSG Embler transitioned back onto active duty service. His most recently served as First Sergeant with Comanche (C) Company 1st BN 12th IN Fort Carson, Colorado.   

MSG Embler served in multiple operational and leadership positions to include Ammo Bearer, Assistant Gunner and Gunner 1st BN 120th Heavy Mechanized Infantry, 30th Heavy Separate Brigade, NCNG; Base Gun Gunner, 2nd BN 33rd AR, 194th Armored Brigade (later reflagged as 4th BN 16th CAV), Ft. Knox, KY; Mortar Squad Leader, 4th SQD, 7th CAV REG, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Gary Owen, KOR; Mortar Squad Leader, HHC 1st BN 120th IN REG, 30th Brigade Combat Team, NCNG; Mechanized Infantry Squad Leader, A Company, 1st BN 120th IN, 30th Brigade Combat Team, NCNG; Light Infantry Mortar Squad Leader and Section Sergeant, 2nd BN 35th IN, 25th Infantry Division, Schoffield Barracks, HI; Section Sergeant and Battalion Mortar Chief Computer, 2nd BN 506th IN, 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell, KY; Drill Sergeant and later Senior Drill Sergeant as well as Operations NCO, 2nd BN 13th IN, 193rd Infantry Brigade, Ft. Jackson, SC; Battalion Mortar Platoon Sergeant and Company  First Sergeant, 1st BN 12th IN, 4th Infantry Division, Ft. Carson, Colorado.

 MSG Embler completed three combat tours in Iraq (2003-04, 2005-06 & 2008-09) and one combat tour in Afghanistan in 2013. He also participated in the rescue and recovery operations for Hurricane Floyd as well as assisted in fighting the NC wild fires in 1992 and 1994.

MSG Embler’s military education includes the Infantry Basic Course and Mortar Infantry Advanced training, Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Infantry Mortar Leader’s Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Senior Leader Course, Master Leader Course, Stryker Leader Course, First Sergeant and Commander’s Course,  Defense Medical Operation Course, Air Assault Course, Pathfinder Course, Equal Opportunity Leader Course, Master Resilience Course, Master Educator Course, Unit Prevention Leader Course, Motor Transportation Operators Course, and Battle Staff Non-Commissioned Officer’s Course.

 His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (7), Army Achievement Medal (8), Meritorious Unit Commendation (2), Army Superior Unit Award, Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, and the Driver’s Mechanic’s Badge. 

MSG Embler is married to Jessica Embler. The Emblers have two sons, Justin Embler (EMN2 US Navy) and Carson Embler.  He spends his free time improving his home, woodworking and fishing.
