Two graduate students from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences were among seven Virginia Tech students and postdoctoral fellows selected for induction into the Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society in 2023: Catherine Cotrupi, Higher Education, and June Ann Jones, ASPECT.

The society was established in 2005 and named for the first African American to earn a doctoral degree in the United States; it “seeks to develop a network of scholars who exemplify academic and personal excellence, foster environments of support, and serve as examples of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and advocacy for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in the academy — exemplifying the spirit and example of Dr. Bouchet.” Virginia Tech is one of 19 Bouchet Society chapter institutions in the United States.

This year’s Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Scholars were inducted on March 31 during a ceremony that was part of the 19th Annual Yale Bouchet Conference on Diversity and Graduate Education 2023, which took place at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.
