During a recent meeting the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors conferred the emerita title on April Few-Demo, Professor of Human Development. Few-Demo was honored for her significant contributions to the scholarship of feminist family studies, which resulted in two edited books and more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and other publications as well as professional awards from the National Council on Family Relations.

A member of the Virginia Tech community since 2000, Few-Demo received several university advising and mentoring awards; she also served as head of the Department of Human Development and Family Science from 2019 to 2022. Currently she is professor and head of the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Georgia.

Few-Demo earned her bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia and her master’s degree from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
