ASPECT doctoral student Sara Wenger presented “Horror and Beauty:  (Post)Human Possibilities and Solutions in the Science Fiction of Octavia E. Butler” at the Science Fiction Research Association Conference, which was held virtually June 18–21.

In addition, Wenger was selected to participate in the 2021 Science, Technology, and Society Summer School at Harvard University, which was held virtually August 2–4.

Supported by the Hewlett Foundation, the program introduced doctoral students, postdocs, and young professionals to issues such as persistent scientific controversies; “denialism” and loss of trust in expertise; cross-cultural differences in science and technology policy; and the implications of private sector funding of research.
