Desirée Poets, an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science and ASPECT Core Faculty, co-edited Maré from the Inside. Arts, Culture and Politics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Blacksburg, Virginia: Virginia Tech Publishing, 2021), with Nicholas Barnes and Max Stephenson, Jr.  

Poets’s individual contribution to the volume was “The Artistic Power of Maré from the Inside” with ASPECT doctoral student Andreza Jorge, pp. 37–44.  

Also included was “Family Constellations and Affective Bonds in Maré from the Inside” by ASPECT doctoral student Molly Todd, pp. 45–50.
