About the Center

As a Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, CEUTS promotes excellence in research, and teaching and learning in the inter/multi/trans-disciplinary field of European Studies, the more focused study of the European Union, and Transatlantic Studies. We aim to bring together intra-university experts to create links among the various disciplines and resources in European and Transatlantic Studies at Virginia Tech, while cultivating connections with academic institutions both in Europe and the United States.

CEUTS also pursues outreach and engagement activities aimed at fostering a dialogue between the academic world and policymakers, in particular with the goal of enhancing the EU’s relations with the United States. In addition, CEUTS seeks to play a key role in reaching out to students and educators associated with secondary education, students of continuing and professional education, lifelong learning, the institutions of civil society, and the general public at large.
