Amy Azano, an associate professor in the School of Education, is the newly appointed co-editor of The Rural Educatorthe official journal of the National Rural Education Association (NREA).  

The NREA was originally founded as the Department of Rural Education in 1907 and is the oldest established national organization of its kind in the United States.  

Azano currently serves as the “Promising Practices” editor for the journal, which leverages the voices of rural practitioners and highlights educational practices that have shown promise to support teaching and learning in rural education; in this role she published “From the Editor:  An Inspire Approach to Promising Practices,” The Rural Educator 42.1 (2021):  i–ii.
