The research of Ashley Reichelmann, an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology, was highlighted on Radio IQ, the local public radio station, in an interview titled “Chiseled in Stone: Exploring Meanings of Confederate Statues in Virginia.”

Reichelmann’s project, begun in 2018, focuses on how people in towns with Confederate statues see them. The research was funded by a Humanities 2018 Summer Fellowship from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences and the Center for Humanities.
