Debra L. Stoudt serves as associate dean for policy and faculty affairs in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She previously held the title of associate dean for academic policies and procedures of the college from 2008 to 2021. Her responsibilities include college oversight for assessment, faculty affairs, faculty searches and hiring, and strategic planning.
In addition to her administrative role, Dr. Stoudt is a professor of German in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures. At Virginia Tech she has taught German culture, language, linguistics, and literature courses. She advises German majors and assists students interested in studying in German-speaking countries. She is also a faculty affiliate of the Virginia Tech Academy for Global Engineering.
Dr. Stoudt has published on the medieval German mystics as well as magic and medicine in the Middle Ages. She is co-editor, with Beverly Mayne Kienzle and George Ferzoco, of A Companion to Hildegard of Bingen (Leiden and Boston: Brill, 2014).
