Current & Admitted Students at Virginia Tech, Complete Graduate Certificate Application

APPLICATION PROCESS

Graduate students accepted to any other graduate program at Virginia Tech will be admitted to the Integrative STEM Education Graduate Certificate program on the basis of acceptance into their home department.

Current Virginia Tech students should complete the “Graduate Certificate Application” by clicking the link below, completing the form, and emailing the form to Dr. John Wells (jgwells@vt.edu). Dr. Wells will provide the “Certificate Program Approval Signature” and give the form to the “Department Contact” to sign. The department will forward it to the Graduate School. This form starts the process by designating the courses that will be completed for the certificate.

If you are not currently a Virginia Tech student and do not plan to enroll in a degree program, then follow the directions below.

Note: Virginia Tech does not discriminate against employees, students, or applicants on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. Certificate Applicants New to Virginia Tech, Complete the Online Application

A qualified student who wishes to enter Virginia Tech to obtain a graduate certificate, without being enrolled in a degree program, may apply for graduate admission to Graduate Certificate Status using the graduate school online application. The Graduate School requires a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for admission to Certificate Status and official transcripts must be submitted.

Note: TOEFL / IELTS is required (for all non-U.S. citizens or non-U.S. permanent residents). Learn more about testing requirements.

Recommendations for admission to the certificate program for non-degree-seeking students will be made by our Graduate Admissions Committee, based on transcripts, the letter of interest, and the minimum requirements specified in the Graduate Catalogue. These admissions criteria differ from our regular degree admission in that they require neither the GRE nor letters of recommendation.

Note: Virginia Tech does not discriminate against employees, students, or applicants on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, genetic information, veteran status, or any other basis protected by law.
