Matthew Komelski, an advanced instructor in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, received the 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.

The award, presented to approximately nine Virginia Tech faculty members each academic year, recognizes a faculty member’s effective, engaged, and dynamic approaches and achievements as an educator.

Komelski was honored for his innovation as a teacher, especially in the creation of experiential learning and service-learning opportunities for his students. His students’ success and personal growth have been his most meaningful experiences as an instructor.
