The Department of History’s first annual Digital Day took place April 16. Graduate, undergraduate, and community volunteers digitized hundreds of ledger pages, court documents, and portraits; photographed rarely seen artifacts from the history of slavery; conducted oral histories; and transcribed dozens of World War II-era soldiers’ experiences.

Jessica Taylor, an assistant professor in the department, led the event, which was sponsored by the Department of History, Newman Library, Wilderness Road Regional Museum, Montgomery Museum of Art and History, and Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation.
