Most of my experience (over 25 years) has been as a photojournalist and is rooted in newspapers and magazines. Through that experience, I’ve been part of the transformation from a print-only product to a digital-first news outlet. One that has forced many organizations to rethink the traditional role of a newspaper journalist.
I started my path to becoming a full-time professor in 2016 when I joined the Department of Communication at Augusta University as an adjunct, teaching news writing, visual communication and the senior capstone course.
The next year I was hired as an assistant professor of practice.
In 2018 I joined the faculty at the University of North Texas, where I spent six years teaching Fundamentals of Photojournalism, Advanced Visual Communication, Intro to Visual Communication, Digital Media for Journalists, Drone Journalism and Intro to Media Writing.
At Virginia Tech, I teach Visual Comm Strategies, Visual Media and Visual News Reporting.
