To be considered for the master's program, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with minimum of 3.0 GPA.
Qualified Virginia Tech undergraduates may begin earning graduate credit while completing the undergraduate major in French. Students must apply and be accepted into the BA-MA program before the beginning of the semester in which graduate courses are taken. Graduate credit will not be granted retroactively.
Students enrolled in the accelerated BA-MA may double count up to 12 credits. Only 5000-level courses taken in last 12 months of BA may count toward both degrees. All requirements must be met for both the undergraduate major and the graduate degree, including the MA thesis or reading list exam.
Criteria for admission are as follows:
Current enrollment as a French major at Virginia Tech
3.3 undergraduate GPA
At least 6 hours of course credit in French at the 4000 level
Submit your application by July 1 for Fall and December 1 for Spring.
