We bring together distinguished faculty from across the University to explore issues of contemporary, transatlantic relevance such as critical infrastructure, defense and security, equality and diversity in contemporary societies, technology, health, and the environment, and women in leadership.

Ralph Buehler, SPIA, examines how biking can fit into transportation systems in Europe and North America.
Sonja Schmid, STS, examines how the technical choices, social hierarchies, economic struct
Danna Agmon, History, won the 2020 Sturm Award for her book, which is a "gripping microhistory of...the 'Nayiniyappa Affair' in the French colony of Pondicherry, India."

The mission of the Strategy Innovation and Global Intelligence Lab at Virginia Tech is twofold: first, to promote the academic study of intelligence and offer the interested public analytical, informative, and accessible intelligence reports on national, regional, and global issues; and second, to link intelligence analysis to strategy formulation.
