Scholars of the European Union study its history, politics, institutions, economics, policies, society, member states, relations with various world regions and great powers (i.e. U.S. China, Russia, UK), and its role in the wider world from a variety of multi/inter-disciplinary perspectives. Studies place particular emphasis on the legal and policy frameworks binding the EU and various non-EU member states and world regions together (what we refer to as trans-European space). Disciplines as varied as Cultural Studies,  European Languages and Literatures, Economics, Geography, History, International Relations, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Religious Studies, Urban Affairs and Planning, and Sociology engage in European Union Studies.
