CLAHS Career Days are designed to help students explore career paths, connect directly with employers, and understand how their major translates into meaningful professional opportunities.
Each career day will focus on a different industry you can connect with and explore in a low stakes way.
Government Career Day
April 21 // 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM // Via Zoom
Whether you're interested in policy, public service, research, communications, community engagement, international affairs, human services, or administration—this event will help you:
- Discover how government organizations hire and recruit
- Learn what employers look for in Liberal Arts and Human Sciences students
- Understand pathways into public service
- Make direct connections with professionals in the field
- Ask questions about internships, full-time roles, and career preparation
This virtual format makes it easy to engage from anywhere.
How It Works
Registration closes April 19
- Student selects: Preferred timeframe & topics of interest
- Students will be assigned a specific session time and receive the zoom link and schedule prior to the event
- Attend your assigned session and engage directly with recruiters and professionals
Sessions will run throughout the day from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

No! Government agencies hire students from a wide range of majors including communications, sociology, political science, history, foreign languages, and more.
Registration opens April 1. A registration link will be available on this page.
You will receive a confirmation email with:
- Your assigned session time
- The organization you are meeting with
- A Zoom link for your session
- Preparation tips

It’s more personalized than a traditional career fair. Instead of browsing booths, you’ll join structured Zoom sessions with specific organizations at an assigned time.
Yes! We recommend:
- Updating your résumé
- Researching the organization you’re meeting with
- Preparing 2–3 questions
- Dressing professionally (even virtually)
- Testing your Zoom connection ahead of time
