Farida Jalalzai, a professor in the Department of Political Sciences and Associate Dean for Global Initiatives and Engagement, received a Fulbright Global Scholars Award for her project titled “Women Presidents and Prime Ministers: A Virtuous Circle of Women’s Leadership?” She will conduct research in Iceland, New Zealand, and Poland – countries where women have served as president or prime minister.

Although a member of the 2020-2021 Fulbright cohort, she has delayed travel until 2021-2022. Jalalzai will interview current and former leaders as well as a representative sample of the citizenry to gain a better understanding of the effects of women’s political empowerment in each nation.
