Toni Calasanti, a professor in the Department of Sociology, received a National Institute on Aging grant supplement to expand her study of older adults who care for spouses or partners with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The additional funding will allow her and Brian de Vries, a San Francisco State University professor emeritus who serves as consultant on both grants, to study the impact of COVID-19 and social or physical distancing across time and caregiving groups.

The original grant research began in 2019; the new, yearlong research began this month.
