The College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences is home to a new Jean Monnet Center of Excellence, the first such center in Virginia and the 11th currently active in the United States.

The college was selected for the honor by the European Commission. The center will support research on European affairs broadly defined; its research and teaching will emphasize not only the European Union but also geographic regions in which the union’s activities have a significant impact.
