James Dubinsky, an associate professor in the Department of English, along with Lela Hilton and Jack Cheng, was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to create and run courses for veterans in the Roanoke–Blacksburg area and Boston. The courses are part of the Clemente initiative at Virginia Tech, and the Clemente Course in the Humanities is funded by the NEH. Veteran students may enroll in the courses for college credit at no cost; the NEH grant provides participants with free childcare, books, meals, and computers. Course instruction at Virginia Tech will begin in Spring 2022.
