Sam (he/him/his) is a third year Ph.D. student in the Human Development and Family Science department with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to attending Virginia Tech, he received a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sexual Diversity Studies followed by a M.S. in Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, both from California State University, Chico. Sam has clinical and research experience and interest on the topics of sexual and gender minority experiences (particularly within individual, couples, and family counseling), measure development, gender studies, human sexuality, adult attachment, clinician-perpetrated microaggressions, and teaching practices. Sam is a professional member of AAMFT and has hopes to conduct research to improve clinical training standards to promote informed and affirming services for the LGBTQ+ community.
