Call for Applications – 2026 Book Manuscript Workshop
The Center for Humanities invites Virginia Tech faculty members working in the humanities to submit a proposal for a VT Center for Humanities book manuscript zoom workshop for spring 2026. Tenured, tenure-track, and non-tenure-track faculty are all eligible. The deadline for proposals is Monday, November 3, 2025.
The Center for Humanities will convene a Zoom workshop to provide feedback on a draft book authored by a faculty member. The Center will invite approximately 3 external experts in your field and (optional) 1-2 VT colleagues to evaluate your manuscript and provide comments in a Zoom workshop. The external readers will receive honoraria from Center funds. We anticipate that the workshop will take place in late spring 2026.
Proposals should contain the following in a single pdf:
Narrative (max. 2 pages): Explain the intellectual significance of your project, the contributions it makes to your field, the current stage of completion, what remains to be done, and planned date of submission to a publisher.
Participants (max. 2 pages): List 3 external participants and (optional) 1-2 internal VT participants. For each proposed participant, include a brief biographical sketch and website link. Explain your connection (if any) with each proposed participant and how their expertise is related to your project.
Book draft: Include the current draft of the entire book. This need not be fully complete, but should demonstrate that a complete draft is feasible by early 2026.
