Boston-based contemporary duo Transient Canvas will present “Crossroads” on March 15 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the School of Performing Arts’ Music on Mondays series.

Bass clarinetist Amy Advocat and marimbist Matt Sharrock relish the creative potential of working with living composers, having amassed a varied repertoire of more than 80 commissioned works in addition to working with hundreds of student composers from all over the world.

Featuring mostly electroacoustic music by Avik Chari, Teerath Majumder, Caroline Louise Miller, Kitty Xiao, Charles Nichols, Sydney Doemel, and Dan VanHassel, this program seeks to build connections over vast distances through music that is both energetically engulfing and vulnerably fragile.

The Transient Canvas duo released their first album, Sift, on New Focus Recordings to rave reviews in 2017. KLANG New Music called it “one of the more refreshing things I've heard in recent years.”

In 2018, the duo released their second album, Wired, named a top ten local album of 2018 by The Boston Globe. They released their third album, Right now, in a second, in 2020.
