Virginia Tech’s annual fashion show, organized by the Fashion Merchandising and Design Society, will be held the evening of April 12. This year’s theme, Enchanted, encompasses light and romantic fashions, as well as dark and edgier ones.

The show will feature 31 student designers and 33 student models, along with photographers, hair and makeup experts, stagers, a videographer, and planning committee members. This year’s coordinators, Lissandra Cartagena and Meredith Cox, are both juniors majoring in fashion merchandising and design in the Department of Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management.

“The fashion show is all about showcasing the work of the talented students in the fashion merchandising and design major,” Cartagena said. “Our department is often overlooked at such a huge school, so it’s important to have a big night like this one to really honor students’ hard work. The show gets bigger and reaches more people across campus and the community each year. I hope to continue that this year and in the future as well.”

Featured guests will include Miss Virginia USA (Ashley Vollrath, a Virginia Tech senior majoring in multimedia journalism) as a guest judge; DJ CJay; Amanda Marshall, a Roanoke-based fashion blogger; and Sunny Murthy, a fashion blogger who is also a Virginia Tech senior majoring in biochemistry.

Men’s and women’s clothing from local boutiques such as Sundee Best, Fringe Benefit, and Greenhouse will be available for purchase at the show, as will eff.y.bee jewelry, Clinique products, Jay Marné handbags, and merchandise from ThriftEd Mag, a pop-up thrift shop.

The show will be held in Squires Commonwealth Ballroom on April 12 from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are available for $5; tickets are also available at the door for $7 on the day of the show.
