Learn how to engage, present, and persuade. Gain a strong foundation in the liberal arts while learning to gather evidence, think critically, evaluate sources, and communicate your findings.
We offer four majors, including: communication science and social inquiry, multimedia journalism, and public relations. The programs give you the opportunity to work with cutting-edge digital technology and gain practical experience in your field. Additionally, we offer a minor in strategic communication to enhance your education with relevant skills for any career.
We also offer a small, highly selective master's program in communication that prepares students for careers or further study. In fact, 100% of our students who have applied for doctoral study have gone on to a Ph.D. program of their choice. Several courses incorporate a service-learning component that allows students to work with an organization. Projects have included bath design for a local show house, volunteering at a retirement community, helping small businesses with marketing plans, conducting the Reality Store financial management simulation for local high schools, and leading the VT Saves social marketing program.
