Virginia Tech always encourages its graduates to return to campus. As enticement, the university and the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences are offering events that engage both mind and spirit, from poetry talks to tailgates.
Homecoming Week
Virginia Tech will celebrate Homecoming with a week of activities for students, alumni, and friends. Start the week with the Campfire Kickoff, watch the Homecoming Parade, and attend the tailgate and football game.

VT Stories Pop-Up Oral History
Visit Healthstorian, a vintage camper retrofitted as a mobile recording studio, to add your reminiscences to VT Stories.

Pregame Hokie Talk
In her talk “More than Money: Less than Sex,” University Distinguished Professor Nikki Giovanni will explore what poetry brings to life. Preceding her talk will be one by Matthew Hulver, head of the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, who will talk about transforming human health through metabolism and obesity research.

College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Tailgate
College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends will gather for a pregame tailgate party before the Virginia Tech vs. Miami football game. Enjoy a tailgate buffet, live music, games, door prizes, and giveaways. The HokieBird will make a special appearance.

Civil War Weekend
Virginia Tech’s 29th annual Civil War Weekend will feature nine expert speakers reflecting on the leadership brought forth by America’s greatest crisis — from Lincoln, Grant, and Lee to Robert Smalls and Ann Pamela Cunningham. The weekend will be followed by an optional two-night field trip to the Virginia peninsula.

Endowment and Scholarship Dinner
Generous donors to endowments and scholarships at the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences will be celebrated, along with the students who are grateful for their support.

Old Guard Reunion Weekend
Catch up with friends and reminisce about the good times at Virginia Tech. In addition, help welcome our newest members, the Class of 1968.
