W. Wat Hopkins, a professor in the School of Communication, received the top faculty paper award in the Law and Policy Division at the 48th Southeast Colloquium of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) for “Hate Speech is Not Free: A Case for its Exclusion from First Amendment Protection.” In addition, a panel session at the colloquium honored Hopkins for his research during more than 40 years of membership in AEJMC. The colloquium took place March 2–4 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
