Discover how society and social behavior impact the world. Gain a strong foundation in social sciences while learning to gather evidence, think critically, evaluate sources, and communicate your findings.

We offer two majors: sociology and criminology. We have seven minors: diversity and community engagement, women’s and gender studies, Africana studies, peace studies and social justice, women’s leadership, sociology, and gender, science, and technology. The programs we offer span a variety of disciplines and feature classes taught by our highly specialized faculty members.
At the graduate level, we offer programs for an M.S. and a Ph.D. in sociology. Both have concentration options in Africana studies, women’s and gender studies, and American Indian studies. Classes are taught by faculty from a variety of disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, ethnic studies, English, history, and modern and classical languages.
