“The center will provide greater visibility to the university and its outstanding programs at the national and international levels,” said Yannis Stivachtis, a professor in the Department of Political Science. “It will also add to Virginia Tech’s status as a global research and land-grant university.”

The 2021 cohort of the Governor’s Fellows Program includes a graduate student and two alumni from Virginia Tech. Daniel Rico and Alli Pillion both recently graduated with a degree in political science, and Jordan Frijas is working on her master’s degree in public administration. Although they work in different governmental offices, they’re all gaining valuable experience that will help them on their career paths.
