The False Cause: Fraud, Fabrication, and White Supremacy in Confederate Memory
October 28, 2020
Lost Cause myths, legends, and falsehoods persist in present-day America.
In “The False Cause: Fraud, Fabrication, and White Supremacy in Confederate Memory,” Adam H. Domby, an assistant professor of history at the College of Charleston, will explore reasons for this persistence on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
In this free presentation, Domby will discuss Lost Cause myths, legends, and falsehoods as well as the creation of Confederate monuments. In examining tall tales, he will expose how white supremacy has long been connected to narratives about the past. Click here to register in advance for this free online webinar.
The event is part of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies’ “New Perspectives on the Civil War Era” online speaker series.
