The website The American Soldier in World War II, an interactive digital publication and archive project directed by Edward Gitre, an assistant professor in the Department of History, was launched on December 7, 2021. Initiated in 2018, the project features 65,000 pages of uncensored survey responses by approximately 500,000 service members on topics such as warfare, race and ethnicity, and health care. Gitre and his team received two years of funding for the project through a NEH Implementation Grant.
