We offer a history major, and four minors in history, Russian area studies, Asian studies, and War and Society. Our programs span a variety of historical disciplines, featuring classes taught by our highly specialized and award-winning faculty members. As interdisciplinary programs, our Asian studies and Russian area studies minors provide a unique opportunity to experience history from a whole new perspective.
We also offer a master’s program in history that prepares students for careers or further study. You can also earn a certificate in Public History. We offer accelerated dual masters’ degrees in History and Curriculum and Instruction, which includes Virginia teaching licensure. Many of our graduate students work with our famous Virginia Center for Civil War Studies.
