Disability Culture at Virginia Tech
January 24, 2022
Virginia Tech faculty and students will explore disability culture as part of the first-ever Virginia Tech Humanities Week.
"Disability Culture at Virginia Tech" will be held Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Goodwin Hall Room 155, located at 635 Prices Fork Road.
The event is open to the general public and will include a workshop led by Ashley Shew, an associate professor in the Department of Science, Technology, and Society, along with undergraduates Grace Farnie, Amanda Leckner, and Hannah Upson, and Theo Rogers, a New River Valley community member.
To attend the workshop in person or virtually, register through this link.
The presentation will display to viewers how, through the lens of disability justice, society can create spaces in the workplace that meet disabled people’s access needs while actively incorporating disabled people in the core leadership of the program or business.
Virginia Tech Humanities Week will be held Feb. 7—11 and includes a range of events celebrating 150 years of the humanities at Virginia Tech and the university’s Sesquicentennial Celebration.
