What You'll Study
Classical languages are the birthplace of Romance languages, as well as English. Studying classical languages like Greek and Latin will help deepen your understanding of many other languages. They provide insights to the source of language as we use it today. Much of current language and institution is based upon the models of classical culture and language.
Having a knowledge of classical languages makes you more prepared for fields including law, political science, medicine, history of science, anthropology, literary studies, history, linguistics, communications, and education.
At Virginia Tech, you will study the classical languages, compositions, literatures, and cultures.
