Ellen Cheever Kitchen and Bath Collection 1971-2018.
The Ellen Cheever Kitchen and Bath Collection 1971-2018 was donated to the Center for Real Life Design in Fall 2018 by Ellen Cheever, a renowned designer and educator, instrumental in establishing the professional designer’s role in the kitchen and bath industry. In the early 1990s Ellen worked with faculty to establish the kitchen and bath curriculum for students at Virginia Tech, the oldest college curriculum affiliated with the National Kitchen and Bath Association’s credentialing program. Ellen also helped establish the advisory board for the program and the Center.
The Collection is a compilation of books, publications and presentations that Ellen wrote and developed over her career. Her groundbreaking books in kitchen and bath design were instrumental in developing and enhancing the design and business skills of a generation of industry professionals. Examples of her work can be accessed here. The entire collection is housed in the Cheever Design Library in the Center for Real Life Design.
