Douglas Kearney, a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Cy Twombly awardee and Cave Canem fellow, will visit Virginia Tech on Feb. 16, 2023 for the university's Visiting Writers Series. 

Kearney has published seven books. His latest, "Sho," was published in 2021, and was a National Book Award, Pen American, and Minnesota Book Award finalist. He currently teaches creative writing at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. 

Kearney will participate in a "craft talk" at 3:30 p.m. Location details will be released at a later date. He will also participate in a reading at 8 p.m. in the Creativity and Innovation District Residence Hall's performance space. 

The event is free and open to the public. The reading will be followed by a brief Q&A, and books will be available for purchase on location through the Virginia Tech bookstore. The Visiting Writers Series is sponsored by the Virginia Tech MFA Program in Creative Writing, and the Department of English.
