Chase Catalano, assistant professor in the Virginia Tech School of Education, connects the idea of allyship and what it means to create home for queer and trans students in higher education at Homecoming week’s Sesquicentennial HokieTalk.

Catalano’s research is about Safe Zone, an educational training program about LGBT+ identities and histories, as well as how to better support queer and trans people. He supported and contributed to the creation of Lavender house, a living learning community for LGBTQ+ students and allies at Virginia Tech, which opened earlier this year.

Catalano’s talk is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 15 from 9 - 10 a.m. in Assembly Hall at Holtzman Alumni Center.
