The New Music Ensemble at Virginia Tech will present a streamed recital on December 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The New Music Ensemble, an experimental music research laboratory under the artistic direction of Kyle Hutchins, an instructor of saxophone in the School of Performing Arts, focuses on the discussion, artistry, and performance of experimental music after 1970, including free and structured improvisation, graphic notation, contemporary performance practice, interactive multimedia, and music in the expanded field.

Since its inception in 2017, the New Music Ensemble, has premiered more than 25 new works by student and professional composers and sound artists. Fall 2020 will feature the world premiere of new virtual work by Joey Crane, Sam Krahn, Jack Langdon, Heather Mease, Tiffany Skidmore, Dan Tramte, and Bethany Younge.
